TEAM BENDAROD HITS TEXAS SEPT. 15th - 19th

 DAY 2

Day 3

Fishing in Texas

Capt. Jerry and I went to Texas last week to have some fellowship with our Tournament sponsors Midcoast Products “Lane Teykl & Glynn Walling” and Pro O2 oxygen systems “Capt. Thomas Barlow”.

Day 1 we landed in Houston Texas where we were picked up by Lane and Glynn. And they took us to the assembly line where Jerry and I assembled 4 dozen different types of Midcoast Products popping corks: The Evolution, Outcast, Outcast Jr. and the new popular Nexus 4. This was great experience as we had no idea how much work went into making these corks.

Day 2 we headed to Galveston to fish with Capt. Thomas Barlow “Pro o2 System” and his lovely wife Kaylin along with Lane and Glynn. Capt. Thomas put us on the fish, but here is the catch, we were out fitted with low sided wading boots and sting ray guards and told to jump in the water. Kaylin was the first to jump in and within no time she was power wading away from the boat. I tried to explain that in Georgia we don’t buy 30 – 50 thousand dollar boats to fish outside of it. It is consider a misuse of funds. But guess what we were in Texas not Georgia and after wade fishing for over 6hrs I understood as we waded in stingray infested waters and the prettiest grass flats I have ever seen. We fish in water that was below the knee and sometimes up to our necks but could see the Redfish and Trout swimming within yards from us. We fished with just artificial baits and caught way over a 150 Reds and Trout and had at least 5o fish that we could have kept. This was an awesome day and I learned that your wading boots better be just a little larger than your feet, because my feet were killing me later in the day. Thank you Thomas and Kaylin for a great day!!

Day 3 we headed to West Bay in Matagorda Bay with Pro Staff member sponsored by Midcoast Products Capt Scott Reech also known as AKA “Croaker Smoker”. Now with Hurricane Karl hammering Mexico I knew that with the high east winds that Capt. Scott may not be able to deliver, but boy was I wrong with in 45 minutes Capt Scott had us in the flats and again we were told to jump out of a perfectly good boat and get in the water and this time I had wading boots that were the right size and I could wade all day. A couple of interesting things we saw was one a Black Drum tailing up against a shell bottom and this Drum would have easily been 20 pounds. We fished with soft plastic baits and again caught over a hundred Reds and Trout. One note able catch was a 6 pound Trout.
So the BIG? Would I Wade Fish again? HELL YES Love that TEXAS STYLE!!!!!!
Special Thanks to Lane and Glenn and Capt. Thomas Barlow and Capt. Scott Reech

BENDAROD FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 2010

Jeremaih

Terry Cothran

Capt. Jim and his charter Sunday headed out to Warsaw Sound wearing out the Reds and Trout using the Evolution Cork and live shrimp. This was a great trip as I witnessed Terry  catching a Red by the tail giving a fight as if it was a big one. This was too  funny as it was the first on my boat. Still alot of puppy Reds and Trout out there, but still keepers running with these schools. This group went thru three quarts of shrimp in a five hour period. Lots of Fun!!!!

Capt. Jerry Boaen

Capt. Jim Edenfield

Capt. Jerry and I head out for a great day with the west winds at 10-15kts and fishing with shrimp and mudd minnows and our two favorite corks the Evolution and the Outcast by Midcoast Products.
We caught a ton of puppy Reds as they were thick as theives and we manage to pull out a few nice ones. Jerry is pictured above with a 34" Red weighing in at almost 13lbs and myself pictured with a 24" Red. What a difference in weight ten more inches makes. Jerrys' Fish is more than twice the weight of mine giving him bragging rights for the day and trust me I never could get him to keeep his mouth shut!!
Nice catch Captain!!!
