TEAM BENDAROD CHARLESTON, SC. Saturday Oct 9th 2010

Captain Jerry and I headed to Charleston today to do some pre fishing for an upcoming tournament next weekend. We were using BIG NASTY BAITS soft plastics, BUGGS LURES and Gulp Jerk Baits. We arrived in Charleston around 7 am and conditions were foggy with light variable winds. We needed to find some new spots as we were sure that the Reds in our favorite area would be outside the size limit. After a lot of searching we found some. We caught a total of 12 Reds. Four were on the money and eight were outside the slot. But this gives us the confidence in knowing that we should be able to find these schools next weekend. Charleston SC has one of the best fishing estuaries that Jerry and I have ever fished. As always we would like to thank our sponsors who make these tournaments possible for us. Southern Eagle Distributing, Midcoast Products, Buggs Lures, Big Nasty Baits, Kubala Kustom Rods, Russell Lures, Power Pro, Bandy’s Bait Shop, Columbia, PRO O2 Systems and Okuma Reels.

Bendarod Fishing Report Saturday October 2 2010

L to R - Paul Felker, Frank Bozek, David Pinkston, and Derrick Wells

The Wild Bunch

Today I had a Charter from Miss Judy’s Charters consisting of 5 great guys from Athens Georgia. The winds were out of the NE 15-20knts gusting up to 30knts at times. They were fishing with the Evolution and Nexus 4 popping corks by Midcoast Products and live shrimp. The group consisted of Frank Bozek, Derrick Wells, Paul Felker and David Pinkston. Dealing with the high winds and rough seas I knew today would be challenging and Boy was it!!! These guys were not you ordinary group they were Bull Dawg Fans and surprising good anglers. With in no time we were on the fish getting into a good school of Reds. Paul the angler with the least experience started the day out kicking butt with a few Reds and a couple of flounder before the other group caught on to where the fish were. Derrick was the next one to start catching fish and had a couple of nice Redfish followed by Frank who would not be out done. But David who set quietly in the rear started to just but a good old fashion a—whopping on the other 3 with a nice 26” Redfish that was tagged and release. We headed over to Cabbage Island to get some relief from the seas and high winds where Derrick and Frank caught two nice Bonnet Head Sharks. Derrick and Paul got a little freaked out when I grip the 4ft shark by the tail and yanked it out of the water into the boat. They quickly moved out of the sharks way when aboard. You had to have been there to appreciate the humorist moment and hearing Paul holler Captain you are bad ass. LOL The group had a total catch of keepers consisting of 10 Redfish and two Flounders. Way to GO GUYS!!!!!

TEAM BENDAROD HITS TEXAS SEPT. 15th - 19th

 DAY 2

Day 3

Fishing in Texas

Capt. Jerry and I went to Texas last week to have some fellowship with our Tournament sponsors Midcoast Products “Lane Teykl & Glynn Walling” and Pro O2 oxygen systems “Capt. Thomas Barlow”.

Day 1 we landed in Houston Texas where we were picked up by Lane and Glynn. And they took us to the assembly line where Jerry and I assembled 4 dozen different types of Midcoast Products popping corks: The Evolution, Outcast, Outcast Jr. and the new popular Nexus 4. This was great experience as we had no idea how much work went into making these corks.

Day 2 we headed to Galveston to fish with Capt. Thomas Barlow “Pro o2 System” and his lovely wife Kaylin along with Lane and Glynn. Capt. Thomas put us on the fish, but here is the catch, we were out fitted with low sided wading boots and sting ray guards and told to jump in the water. Kaylin was the first to jump in and within no time she was power wading away from the boat. I tried to explain that in Georgia we don’t buy 30 – 50 thousand dollar boats to fish outside of it. It is consider a misuse of funds. But guess what we were in Texas not Georgia and after wade fishing for over 6hrs I understood as we waded in stingray infested waters and the prettiest grass flats I have ever seen. We fish in water that was below the knee and sometimes up to our necks but could see the Redfish and Trout swimming within yards from us. We fished with just artificial baits and caught way over a 150 Reds and Trout and had at least 5o fish that we could have kept. This was an awesome day and I learned that your wading boots better be just a little larger than your feet, because my feet were killing me later in the day. Thank you Thomas and Kaylin for a great day!!

Day 3 we headed to West Bay in Matagorda Bay with Pro Staff member sponsored by Midcoast Products Capt Scott Reech also known as AKA “Croaker Smoker”. Now with Hurricane Karl hammering Mexico I knew that with the high east winds that Capt. Scott may not be able to deliver, but boy was I wrong with in 45 minutes Capt Scott had us in the flats and again we were told to jump out of a perfectly good boat and get in the water and this time I had wading boots that were the right size and I could wade all day. A couple of interesting things we saw was one a Black Drum tailing up against a shell bottom and this Drum would have easily been 20 pounds. We fished with soft plastic baits and again caught over a hundred Reds and Trout. One note able catch was a 6 pound Trout.
So the BIG? Would I Wade Fish again? HELL YES Love that TEXAS STYLE!!!!!!
Special Thanks to Lane and Glenn and Capt. Thomas Barlow and Capt. Scott Reech

BENDAROD FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 2010

Jeremaih

Terry Cothran

Capt. Jim and his charter Sunday headed out to Warsaw Sound wearing out the Reds and Trout using the Evolution Cork and live shrimp. This was a great trip as I witnessed Terry  catching a Red by the tail giving a fight as if it was a big one. This was too  funny as it was the first on my boat. Still alot of puppy Reds and Trout out there, but still keepers running with these schools. This group went thru three quarts of shrimp in a five hour period. Lots of Fun!!!!

BENDAROD FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT SUNDAY Aug 29, 2010

Capt. Jerry Boaen

Capt. Jim Edenfield

Capt. Jerry and I head out for a great day with the west winds at 10-15kts and fishing with shrimp and mudd minnows and our two favorite corks the Evolution and the Outcast by Midcoast Products.
We caught a ton of puppy Reds as they were thick as theives and we manage to pull out a few nice ones. Jerry is pictured above with a 34" Red weighing in at almost 13lbs and myself pictured with a 24" Red. What a difference in weight ten more inches makes. Jerrys' Fish is more than twice the weight of mine giving him bragging rights for the day and trust me I never could get him to keeep his mouth shut!!
Nice catch Captain!!!

BIG NASTY BAITS

BUGGS LURES

RIDE TO WEIGH IN!!!!

Hilton Head SC. Saturday July 24th Low Country Red Fish Tournament. Blast off at 5:30 am. Team Bendarod had two Reds in the Boat by 7am. We ended up the day with a total catch of 10 Reds by 11am. 5 of them in the slot and 5 outside the slot. All fish were caught on Big Nasty Baits and Buggs Lures. Our 2 fish weigh in was a little over 6 pounds putting us in 12th for the day and hopefully in the top 10 for the series. One of the funnest moments of the day was when I had caught a 30" plus Red on my Big Nasty Bait and the Red made a run, causing me to loose my balance on the bow of the boat and putting me over board. My team mate Capt. Jerry LHAO not even offering to help me back aboard. Many thanks to our sponsors; Southern Eagle Dist. LLC,  Midcoast Products, Big Nasty Baits, Buggs Lures, Kubala Kustom Rods, Russell Lures, Okuma, Power Pro Line and Capt. Barlows O2 system keeping our catch alive

CAPT. JIM

CAPT. JERRY

Capt Jerry and I are prefishing July 23rd for a Low Country Red Fish tournament being held out of Broad Creek Marina in Hilton Head SC. Saturday the 24th. We broke out our charts this morning to decide on where we are going to start. It was important that we found a place to catch our fish early as hot weather would make the bite tougher in the heat of the day, with a tackle box full of Big Nasty Baits and Buggs Lures we found the fish early and after catching the two above we decided to leave the area and save it as our number one spot for tommorow. We are presently tied for 13th in the series and need a top 10 finish to make it to the championship with one more tournament left in this series after Hilton Head.

BENDAROD FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT SATURDAY JUNE 5th, 2010

Jason Liddiard

Alisha Slieff

SW winds 15kts turning S to 20kts+ by the afternoon. I started Fishing in Warsaw Sound today with this awesome couple from Lawrenceville Ga. fishing with the Evolution Popping Cork and shrimp as bait. These two had me cracking up all day. Alisha was truly the best angler of the two, catching and releasing two monster Redfish one 25 and one 28 inches. Jason however did make some what of a come back as he was lagging behind Alisha. He showed me this fishing technique of a fish call by clapping his hands together underneath the surface of the water. I am sorry to say that he didn't quite convince me. However Alisha technique was to take her eyes off her cork and behold she would catch fish; she had me convinced!! One of the things I remember most was she told me how a woman can sound like a Dolphin!

BENDAROD FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT FRIDAY May 21, 2010

Rose and Kath Sheffield
Charles Mitchell

Capt. Jerry and I both had charters today and fish in the Warsaw Sound area. Fishing conditions were rough today as we had to deal with NE winds at 15-20kts seas were also rough. Bait of choice today was mud minnows and shrimp a long with Midcoast Evolution corks. The bite was slow as a front had moved in Wednesday but the anglers above did a great job on managing to catch some fish. We also would like to extend our heart to our fellow Captains dealing with all the crap that is happening to them in the Gulf, our best wishes and blessings are with them during these tough times.

BENDAROD FISHING CHARTERS FISHING REPORT SATURDAY May 15th, 2010

Saturday May 15th, 2010 winds 15-20kts out of the South. Fishing with mud minnows with the Evolution Cork by Midcoast Products and new plastic lures by Big Nasty Baits made in Texas, I had a total catch of 15 Reds today 6 of which were caught on Big Nasty Baits and 9 on live bait. Keeping 5 and tagging 2 and releasing the rest.

Big Nasty Baits makes several soft and hard plastic baits that are equally as impressive to look at as well as catching fish.
