The Wild Bunch

Today I had a Charter from Miss Judy’s Charters consisting of 5 great guys from Athens Georgia. The winds were out of the NE 15-20knts gusting up to 30knts at times. They were fishing with the Evolution and Nexus 4 popping corks by Midcoast Products and live shrimp. The group consisted of Frank Bozek, Derrick Wells, Paul Felker and David Pinkston. Dealing with the high winds and rough seas I knew today would be challenging and Boy was it!!! These guys were not you ordinary group they were Bull Dawg Fans and surprising good anglers. With in no time we were on the fish getting into a good school of Reds. Paul the angler with the least experience started the day out kicking butt with a few Reds and a couple of flounder before the other group caught on to where the fish were. Derrick was the next one to start catching fish and had a couple of nice Redfish followed by Frank who would not be out done. But David who set quietly in the rear started to just but a good old fashion a—whopping on the other 3 with a nice 26” Redfish that was tagged and release. We headed over to Cabbage Island to get some relief from the seas and high winds where Derrick and Frank caught two nice Bonnet Head Sharks. Derrick and Paul got a little freaked out when I grip the 4ft shark by the tail and yanked it out of the water into the boat. They quickly moved out of the sharks way when aboard. You had to have been there to appreciate the humorist moment and hearing Paul holler Captain you are bad ass. LOL The group had a total catch of keepers consisting of 10 Redfish and two Flounders. Way to GO GUYS!!!!!

  1. Captain Morgan ain't got nothing on Captain Jim!

I made a promise to the guys i would start with that Capt. Like the Man said the odds were against this fishing trip from the get go. Our Friday and Saturday deep sea trips were cancelled due to high seas and wind. Bummer! We managed to get a inshore trip through Miss Judy Charters. Thank the great Lord above we got Capt.Jim Edenfield. one half of the dynamic duo know the world over as "Team Bendarod"
Capt.Jim came cruising up the river in a sweet center console wrapped in none other than Budweiser. Yea come on! As soon as my brother Derick and I saw the vessel along we looked at each other and said "thats our boat"
Even for a beautiful day the fishing odds were against us. Very choppy water, high winds, and out weighed by many years of fishing experience in our other groups boat. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell you we weren't gonna win the bragging rights on this trip.
But we did! Little did we know the secret weapon tossed our way when we waited for the second boat, Jim Edingfield. He put us straight on the fish. It was hell out the gate and we stayed that way the whole trip!
Capt Jim's got the knowledge, skill, and damn sure got the equipment to more than get the job done. Money well spent my friends. Capt Jim took piss poor conditions and completed the mission. A couple of good ol Georgia boys had one hell of a fishing trip. If you make it up to Lanier or Hartwell give me a shout.
Special thanks to Boss-man Sam, Bendarod Charters, Miss Judy Charter, TIEMS, and Rock House.
    Sincerely David "Haji" Pinkston
"I can't catch them all, Just the ones for the wall." RIP coRONa.
