TEAM BENDAROD CHARLESTON, SC. Saturday Oct 9th 2010

Captain Jerry and I headed to Charleston today to do some pre fishing for an upcoming tournament next weekend. We were using BIG NASTY BAITS soft plastics, BUGGS LURES and Gulp Jerk Baits. We arrived in Charleston around 7 am and conditions were foggy with light variable winds. We needed to find some new spots as we were sure that the Reds in our favorite area would be outside the size limit. After a lot of searching we found some. We caught a total of 12 Reds. Four were on the money and eight were outside the slot. But this gives us the confidence in knowing that we should be able to find these schools next weekend. Charleston SC has one of the best fishing estuaries that Jerry and I have ever fished. As always we would like to thank our sponsors who make these tournaments possible for us. Southern Eagle Distributing, Midcoast Products, Buggs Lures, Big Nasty Baits, Kubala Kustom Rods, Russell Lures, Power Pro, Bandy’s Bait Shop, Columbia, PRO O2 Systems and Okuma Reels.

The Wild Bunch

Today I had a Charter from Miss Judy’s Charters consisting of 5 great guys from Athens Georgia. The winds were out of the NE 15-20knts gusting up to 30knts at times. They were fishing with the Evolution and Nexus 4 popping corks by Midcoast Products and live shrimp. The group consisted of Frank Bozek, Derrick Wells, Paul Felker and David Pinkston. Dealing with the high winds and rough seas I knew today would be challenging and Boy was it!!! These guys were not you ordinary group they were Bull Dawg Fans and surprising good anglers. With in no time we were on the fish getting into a good school of Reds. Paul the angler with the least experience started the day out kicking butt with a few Reds and a couple of flounder before the other group caught on to where the fish were. Derrick was the next one to start catching fish and had a couple of nice Redfish followed by Frank who would not be out done. But David who set quietly in the rear started to just but a good old fashion a—whopping on the other 3 with a nice 26” Redfish that was tagged and release. We headed over to Cabbage Island to get some relief from the seas and high winds where Derrick and Frank caught two nice Bonnet Head Sharks. Derrick and Paul got a little freaked out when I grip the 4ft shark by the tail and yanked it out of the water into the boat. They quickly moved out of the sharks way when aboard. You had to have been there to appreciate the humorist moment and hearing Paul holler Captain you are bad ass. LOL The group had a total catch of keepers consisting of 10 Redfish and two Flounders. Way to GO GUYS!!!!!
